Safety
on Posting Boards
Tampa,
Florida - April 17, 2009
Posting boards and classified sites, such as
cool easy post and craigslist, have increased
47% over the last couple of years. While different boards offer little to some
safety for its users, most are open boards where
post and communications are determined out of
free will from users.
And While we
all laugh and joke at some on line postings, The
Cool Easy felt from day 1, that some things
could still be serious. From day one the site
took extra safety measures to implement an
"Instant Safety Alert System". This alert
system can send an instant message to a users
desktop should
Cool Easy Post becomes aware of any possible
scams or dangerous activities. It can be download by our users
through the toolbar. And users can disable
the toolbar is they choose not to use it and
still use the safety alert system.
The Cool Easy Post also has live monitors
for live communications for reporting issues.
In addition to several other safety features;
included more serious guidelines for those that
post in our personals and by not allowing full
nudity type images in our adult community.
Our position on allowing users to post
full nudity along with allowing users to get out
of control in posting behavior, is that it does
create a foundation that manifest for problems
such as these murders being created on sites
such as craigslist. The Cool Easy feels
deep sadness for the murdered victims and
the families of Katherine Ann Olsen and
Julissa Brisman. These are two women, victims,
off craigslist posting board classifieds. Only
in time will we all find out the details of what
happened. From that, hopefully everyone
will learn what to do better and what not to do
when conversing with others online.
We still realize the difficulty in trying
to control what people post and the safety
measures they use. It is impossible for
any website to completely be in control of its
users 24/7 in order to stay ahead of the those
who are not honest and harmful to others. Users
of posting boards must also be responsible in
taking charge of their own safety because no
site can take responsibility of others free will
and conduct. It would be simply impossible to
do. However, this is a prime example of
why online websites should try to build safety
measures the would help control these kind of
issues for less risk.
Consumers however, especially in harder
times, need a free place to post. It helps out
millions of citizens a day, in selling their
items, bartering, and posting information with a
fast response time. That means cash to feed
families, or conduct many small projects they
might not afford otherwise; in addition to self
employed who need to generate free leads for
work.
6) Beware of those who ask you to use or
promise you Western Unions, Moneygrams, wire
transfers, cashier checks, money orders,
shipping items, escrows, promises of
transactions, protections-certifications, &
guarantees. 90% of the time those are
fraud/scams!
7) Never give anyone your passwords or ID for
money purposes, including personal accounts no
matter what reason they give you. This is
especially true when dealing with services who
claim they are loan officers online. IF
you can not go to an office, or confirm with a
local office, be very careful vs ID fraud.
PART 1 >>> Insist
meeting in a lighted public
place. Never enter or
let strangers inside a home if
your alone. Keep curb
alerts just that. Outside.
PART 2 >>> Carry a fully
charged cell phone
PART 3 >>> Find a friend you can
trust and become buddy
exchangers. Give your buddy
the meeting place, time, and
information you have on the
person
you are meeting with. Call your
buddy when you are leaving, when
you arrive, and "AFTER" you have
left the property of the person
you are meeting.
PART 4 >>>Assign a code
word between you & your buddy.
Never give it out to anyone
else. This way each know your
calls are legitimate.
If you were having a serious
issue, your buddy would have all
the information for tracing you
and will know to call the police
in your behalf. Remember, its safer to call
the police on an alert that is a
misunderstanding vs the safety
of your buddy.
PART 5 >>>Leave quick
copy of meeting & all contact
info on who your meeting; on
your computer or place it
will be seen incase of an
emergency.
Even for jobs, real estate &
curb alerts.
Make it a routine habit.
Do
this even if your using an
online buddy. You can
always toss it when you return.
PART 6 >>>When you
leave, make sure you are not
being followed.
PART 7 >>>Never
disregard your inner gut
feelings and never be afraid
to say no or leave if you feel
uncomfortable in any situation!
OTHER
OPTIONS TO A "CALL BUDDY"

friend go with you. Their
job is to wait outside in the
car. Your buddy should never
get out of the car for "any"
reasons,
especially if someone else
approaches them to invite in.
Keep car locked until you know
its pretty public and safe.
B >>>
When no buddy is available:Make an extra copy of the
contact name, email, phone
number, meeting/interview place,
and any other important
information. Date and
timestamp the note. Leave copy
on your computer or someplace
clearly visible.,
C >>>Always call
someone when your arriving and
when you leaving, using your
password system if possible.
